PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Good drainage is essential for soil stability. In order to be effective along highways, within embankments, under airfields and athletic fields, or anywhere subsurface drains are required, there must be a properly designed protective filter. Traditionally, graded-aggregate filter systems have been used with limited success to prevent soil particles from migrating into subsurface drainage structures. These aggregate drains, however, have several inherent problems, including high cost, and difficult installation. Mirafi non woven geotextiles provide a cost-effective alternative to graded-aggregate filters.

Features:

Superior design features of Mirafi Nonwoven Subsurface Drainage Geotextiles include the following:

ADVANTAGES

Mirafi subsurface drainage geotextiles eliminate many of the problems associated with:

INSTALLATION

Before placing, clear the site of all large stones, roots, and debris.

1) Excavate and shape the site to the lines and grades as directed. Fill depressions or holes to permit close contact between the geotextile and the Prepared surface. Place the geotextile smoothly without folds or excessive wrinkles. Place the aggregate and pipe according to specifications. Use special care when placing the aggregate to avoid damaging the geotextile.

2) Finish covering the pipe and geotextile with select fill to the proper grade. In trenches greater than 30.5 cm 112”1 wide, the geotextile should be folded over the top of the drainage material, producing a minimum overlap of 30.5cm 112”}. In trench less than 30.5cm (12”) wide, the overlap should equal the width of the trench. Overlap successive geotextile sheets a minimum of 61 cm (24a} in the direction of the flow, with the upstream layer overlapping the downstream.
