Thanks to raised environmental conscientiousness, and the rising costs of repairing the damage erosion creates, erosion and sediment control have become important considerations for all potentially affected projects. Construction sites with steep slopes that are bare along with surface drainage areas are especially subject to erosion. As a result, the EPA has included erosion and sediment control as an important part of the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System(NPDES). The NPDES is a provision within the 1990 Clean Water Act that requires Best Management Practices for planning control of erosion. |
